I have this strange problem with reflections. I modelled a building that has a lot of windows in it. When I created an animation of it I noticed that parts of the building itself were showing up in the reflections. So I recreated a very simple scene that had a mirror and a box in it. I put the camera at an angle in front of the mirror, put an object at a right angle to the camera( so I could verify that the mirror was reflecting), put the box to the side of the mirror where one end of the box is behind the mirror and the other end just at the plain of the mirror. Here now is the problem, the other end of the box shows up in the reflection. I spent three hours trying to figure out what was happening and I still do not know. I have uploaded a project file that contains the scenerio. I hope this is fixed in some bug release. You will find that if you move the box just a hair away from the plan of the mirror that the effect goes away or if you shorten the box if starts to go away. I applied a texture to the box so I could see which side was reflected. Sure enough the other side is reflected and magnified! Is there anyone that knows of this problem? and what the cure is? Are you using flat mirrored materials? If so, remember that the the first face found in the mesh to have a flat mirror material defines the plane and normal of the reflection. Every other face will be refering back to its position and give you incorrect results. To resolve it, detach each unique plane as a unique object and it should work. – Phil

The mirror that I am using is a flat plain. It was created by deleting all the sides of a box except the side I wanted as a mirror. However, you gave me an idea that instead of deleteing the sides to make the mirror, I detached the faces from the box to make the mirror. This did not work either. If you get a chance take a look at the project file I uploaded (reflec.zip). The search keyword is "reflectoo". It show a simple scene that repoduces the effect. All the box has to do is break the plain of the mirror and it suddenly shows up in the reflection. This should not be possible based on where the camera is placed.
