#HELP, Tree meshes needed

I was looking for some meshes of trees that look as real as possible for a
project that i am working on if anyone has any could you please send them to
me. Thanks for any help you can be.

sounds like you are looking for a freebie – I can't help you there, but I can
suggest either 4D-Vision's (formally Schreiber) nursery if you have lots of RAM
or Yost's Silicon Garden for lower ram usage trees.
Other than that search the internet or build your own – it's not that hard. I
built one the other day with the shaper/lofter and then created a leaf and used
Yost's Scatter to distribute to selected areas of the branches – the result is
very effective.
Where can i get some real good yost products? such as the smoke and glow.

4dvision sells them all so they can supply current pricing – I'm not sure.
If you have little RAM resources then Silicon Garden may be a better bet,
whereas Nursery are more dense and RAM hungry.
What kind of project are you doing and do you have a decent budget?
i can spend about 200.00 bucks on the project that me and some friends are
working on for fun. i am only 16 but am interested in geting the best stuff for
the amount of money.

in that case I'd scan the BBS's and the Net for trees. Each of the products I
mentioned probably costs more than $200 each – I'm fairly sure Silicon Garden
costs $300.
do they have any deals like autodesk for students to a little discount. also
doe you know where to get some good yost routines like glow,smoke,
rain,infirno, etc… and how much they cost? also could you please send me all
the information on silicon garden becouse i am still thinking on spending more
than 200.00 dollars if the product can help me out alot and it can create life
like plants.

What is your interest in trees? What is your project?
For Trees, you have Schreiber's no. for Nursery…
If you can find about $400 to $600, and have access to a Mac,
you would probably love "Tree Professional"
(by Onyx Computing 617-876-3876 in Cambridge, Mass)
a "parametric tree modeler with intelligence".
One interactively "grows" the Trees by controlling leaf type,
branches, density, etc with interface controls.
"Tree" will export .DXF files for import to 3DS too.
Tree is a stand alone Macintosh program, the creation of a
brilliant programmer/designer/botanist named Bojana Bosanac of Onyx.
Also AccuRender, for AutoCAD based rendering,
if you have AutoCAD,
is a favorite for _rendering_ 3D trees,
but these are not displayed as 3D models.
AR shells out, to render.
But the rendered trees
in various seasons, densities, species and varieties, and the
sun and shadow they make are the beautiful joy of rendering in AutoCAD.
The trees are botanically correct.

If you have a student version of r12 or r13,
there is a demo version of AR and perhaps a student license.
There is a shareware program called
LParser by Dr. Laurens Lapre,
(originator of RenderStar 4, another AutoCAD based rendering engine). LPARSER
is a fractal "grower" you would love, if you like simple
code writing. This is available for download from the Forum.

Laurens' own art work done with LParser
is fantastic organic creations and some are plants and trees.
…to capture and create trees or growth patterns like these talents do is very
inspiring.

You might also want to get onto Digimation's mailing list. They sell a lot of
3DS add-ons that Schreiber doesn't carry. 1-800-854-4496.

You might also try the Syndesis 3D-ROM Vols I and II and the Autodesk 3D Props
CDs. They're not free, but that'll get you a pile of tree meshes. Also, Jim
Lammers' Rendering Plant BBS has some awesome trees with very simple geometry
but with very complex mapping that render to an amazingly realistic appearance.
Also, the CD that comes with the book 'Fractal Graphics for Windows' has a \3DS
directory loaded with awesome trees. That's the least expensive route – maybe
$34.

Try taking look at the MECN Tree Factory demo in the IPAS section. It's a
Win32 application that generates 3D trees and exports them to DXF, LightWave
3D, and RAW files.
