Dave, it's the cable and not the modem here. Pins 14, 21 and 23 on the Amiga serial connector are used for external power for an Amiga specific device. If your present cable has these pins connected, then you will fry your modem. For example, if you were using a serial cable for an IBM PC as I was, you would have to get another cable. If your present cable doesn't connect these pins, you would be okay. Cables are considerably cheaper than modems so if you are in doubt, buy the correct cable. Any Amiga dealer should stock the right one. George
