I am repairing a friend's A-3000, its battery leaked all over the circuit board
and needs to be replaced.
How does one go about recreating whatever information was saved by the battery?
You'll need a program called SetBatt, or Battmem, or SCSIPrefs. At least 2 are
on Fish. These proggies manip the SCSI settings stored in the 3000's battery
backed memory area.
Now you have to tell me what kind of battery I need to get to replace mine
with!

3.6V 60 maH Alkaline I think. It's on the battery itself. It is
soldered onto the MB so you'll have to disassemble the entire
computer, remove the MB from the case and then desolder the battery
from the board. Be real careful when you desolder the battery! Use
all the usual anti-static precautions.
