Don, I want to free up room on my harddrive. (Amiga 1200 with 4MB Ram installed
on a memory card) 80MG B Harddrove.ive.
Joan,
Ok…well, workbench by itself (typical floppy based WB) only needs
about 700K of space for all its files. So you other 79Meg of files on your HD
is stuff you've loaded.
Among other things, make sure you Empty the Trash if you're using WB to
delete files by dragging them into the trashcan. Otherwise, go to a CLI or set
WorkBench to show all files (not just icons) and go thru the drive and delete
stuff you don't use anymore…or copy it off to floppies.

If you are running an A1200 with 4MB of added FastRam, you should not
be running into low memory conditions unless you are loading in a
whole whack of programs at startup. The 1200 comes normally with 2MB
of ChipRam already installed and with the addition of your 4MB of
FastRam you should have a total of 6MB at your disposal (well not
really. A couple KB here and there are used by the system itself, so
lets say 5+ MB available). Where are you getting this figure 94%
full? Is it from the title bar on the RAM: drawer? Or is it from
your harddrive drawer?
