You are talking apples and oranges, and are refusing to listen to those that are _trying_ to tell you what the 2090 does and doesn't do. Your host adapter, by itself, will not handle MFM or RLL drives. Period. End of statement. What your controller _does do_ is handle SCSI drives, or drives (MFM or RLL) attached to a SCSI controller. Period. End of statement. Here's how it works Ron, read this carefully, study the diagram below until you understand it. Perhaps then you will stop putting down the 2090 for reasons that are demonstrably false. Your controller to drive path looks like this. Amiga —– Host adapter —– SCSI controller —– ST506 drive (MFM or RLL) 1 2 3 The numbers under the diagram show the following. 1. Amiga bus. Your host adapter plugs in here. 2. SCSI bus. This is an 8 bit parallel bus plus control signals and handshaking. 3. ST506 interface. This is the ST506 part of the combination. It is a serial data link with some control lines. Now, the SCSI portion of the 2090 looks _EXACTLY_ like that. no different. Period. In _ADDITION_, the 2090's ST506 Amiga to drive path looks like this: Amiga —– 2090 —– ST506 drive (MFM only) 1 3 The numbers here correspond to the numbers above. What is the point? Well, you keep saying that the 2090 will not support RLL drives. You are wrong. It will support them in the same way that your controller will. It will support MFM drives in the same way yours will. BUT! It will ALSO support 2 MFM drives without having to have a SCSI host adapter, and yours will not. Please, Ron, read this VERY carefully.
