It is indeed pulling yourself up by the shoelaces, which is what boot code is
all about. They have implemented it in a manner that fits in very well with the
autoconfig process, does not impact those without hard drives or those without
autoboot capability on their hard drive controllers, and in a manner that
allows any manufacturer to produce an autobooting controller. But go ahead and
flame them for it anyway.
