Regarding your question about fonts in a "BDF" format–Adobe provides
Macintosh and IBM binary formats for printer fonts and corresponding screen
fonts. The IBM formats are for the Windows & Ventura environment and
include .PFB (printer fonts), .FON (screen font files) and .PFM (printer
font metric files) for Windows and .ABF (binary font), & .AFM files (font
metrics) for Ventura. A list of the typefaces currently available from
