Greetings, and salivations (for edification)… Is there a utility available to convert AFM files to Ventura WID files? I'd like to edit kerning data–easy to do on an AFM, need a road map for a WID. If no utility, hows about a road map for WID files? Enlightened thusly, I might write the utility myself. w/mucho graci in advance, David Perrell

David- To convert AFM files to Ventura WID files is a two step process. You must first convert the AFM file to a VFM file using the AFMtoVFM.exe utility. The VFM file must then be converted to a WID file by using the VFMtoWID.exe utility. This is discussed on page K-22 of the Ventura reference guide. Nancy Runge Adobe Systems

Nancy- I see I really don't need AFM files. The VFM files are easily editable. No problem. I know I shouldn't've had to ask, but your prompt reply was a pleasure to receive. I wonder why the Pa, Pe and Po combos aren't in the kerning tables. Have you ever seen the word TransPacific set in Palatino without kerning on the Pa? Looks like TransP acific. A -55 kern w/roman and a -21 kern w/italic is much nicer! Thanks again. David P.
