Greetings from a lurker. Be very wary of the Micrographix drivers. I've been using Designer since v1.0, and paid dearly for every new MGXPS.DRV they wrote. First one rotated text backwards; the next version cut off legal pages down to letter size image (on some devices only); the correction for that version would only allow the Linotron's 4 native fonts to be used (that's right, a Linotron driver that trashed all soft font calls), and the latest gem, version 2.0 MGXPS.DRV *seems* stable. Even with extended dealer tech support program, I have to pull teeth to get Micrographix to talk, or to send out updates. (You've got to ask them, even if you subscribe they won't send them automatically.) It sounds very much like you hit another MGX bug. If you can, try using Corel Draw instead of Designer-the printer controls are exceptional, and it will use "any" standard Windows/Microsoft PSCRIPT.DRV. Interesting note: Aldus said the Adobe Ill/PC driver (which identifies itself as -ALDUS v.3.1 b2.4- ) is a beta version that should never have been shipped! The Aldus 3.0 driver, shipped with Pagemaker, is their current release. They are aware of driver conflicts/problems, and suggested I get Microsoft 3.2 or 3.3. Then Microsoft said the latest Microsoft driver was v.3.1. (Which identifies itself as ALDUS 3.1 !!) However you get it, the Aldus 3.1 driver seems most stable. Unfortunately, both Micrographix and Adobe require their own drivers to implement special features….and both have bugs. That's how I wind up with 4 "PSCRIPT" driver flavors in win.ini…. Which, by the way, will self-destruct when it gets about 32k long! Of course, that's not a minor bug, that's an undocumented housekeeping feature….
