MotherBoard Woes

Lee, I seem to recall back in July or August you were having a problem with
your A2000 and an ASDG (or Micron) memory board. (Somewhere in Amigavendor
Forum) What I remember is that the solution was to replace a bad chip on your
mother board. I think my system may be having a similar problem. Any insights
would be appreciated.

That's correct. We did replace a bad chip on the motherboard. The memory board
itself was fine. Now you're going to ask me which chip was bad… I'm afraid
I don't remember, and I can't locate any paperwork on it. But a quick
replacement DID fix the problem.

Ok, I won't ask you which chip was replaced.
I will ask you two other questions though <grin>.
Was the chip replaced a socketed chip or was it soldered into the motherboard?
(That might narrow it down anyway.)
And just to confirm the symptoms, did the problems on your system seem to be
temperature related? My system seems to be allergic to being cold. FIre it up
cold and it gurus; wait 10 minutes, solid as a rock.
I used to have problems with cold temperature and my Amiga 500. I am
pretty sure that it was connected the the ToolBox I had on the expansion bus (2
Amiga 2000 slots). I think that sidecar have a harder time communicating for
whatever reason when its cold. I think I averaged two gurus (within two
mintues) before I was safe. Once in a while it was 1 or 3.

The chip was socketed, and fairly common, but it wasn't one of the ladies. And
the problem didn't appear to be temperature related. My system guru'ed every
time.
