A2088 Problem

Another Bridgeboard problem. I have an A2088 bridgeboard and an Amiga 2000. The bridgeboard is suddenly giving the following error on startup: "Boot disk failure. Type key to restart." I've tried it with several different disks — including the MS-DOS disk that came with the Bridgeboard. No luck. It just keeps repeating this message. The 5.25" drive whirs and the light comes on…then "Boot disk failure. Type key to restart." Has my disk drive gone bye-byes in the car? Is it time to get a new one? -Don

Don, Two things I can think of can cause that (other than the disk drive really being bad). 1. BridgeBoard not properly seated. 2. The drive is "stuck" on track 0 or less. The fixes: 1. Reseat the BB. 2. Get to the back of the disk drive while the power is OFF. From the rear…push on the head to move it forward (towards the front of the drive). Do this GENTLY!! Don

Don: Thanks. I will give both solutions a try. -Don
