My Amiga 2000 needs a new home. Rev 6.2 motherboard. GVP 030/40 accelerator
with 8 megs 32bit RAM, 1 meg chip RAM, two floppys 120 Meg Hard drive. All
yours for $900 plus shipping.
A few questions:
Which version of the OS is installed? Do you know if your machine can
successfully run Amiga Basic? What condition is it in?

Bomis, OS 2.1 is installed. There's no reason why it wouldn't be able to run
ANY Amiga software (except AGA stuff of course). Regards, Gary
Er, no it wont run Amigabasic…
AmigaBasic doesn't like anything other than a 68000. It also has problems with
extra RAM.

I've been using Amiga Basic on an A2000 with a GVP 030/33 accelerator for
years and haven't run into any problems. I run with 1 meg chip ram, 4 meg
16 bit ram and 4 meg 32 bit ram.

Unless your using an altered version of AmigaBASIC, there will be problems with
AmigaBASIC on 32-bit Amigas. AmigaBASIC isn't 32-bit pure, it is only 24-bit
pure (it ported from a 24-bit Mac BASIC). AmigaBASIC used the "unused" 8-bits
for holding pointers.
Forcing AmigaBASIC to load only itself into CHIP memory, can bypass the
problems caused by loading AmigaBASIC into 32-bit memory areas. However, I'm
not sure if this works with Amigas with AGA, since their CHIP RAM is 32-bit.
