BTW – I have been thinking of using a 68010-P12 to run at 14MHz with the project. What do you think?

I guess it's about the same has having the 68010 at 7MHz. What I mean is that I heard that some people had problems (compatibility of one or two commands in the MP) with it so you'd probably have the same…. I wonder though if you'd get a better speed increase over the 68000? As it's not too hard to try, and if you have the chip, might as well try it! 🙂 If it works, give me the results… I may do it too. A 68010 at 7MHz gives an average of 1.2 (times the speed of a 'stock' machine). A 68000 at 14MHz would give you about 1.7. Also, a 68000 should yield no compatability problems beyond that floppy timing problem (experienced with cheaper drive mechs. which can be fixed with a STEP-RATE utility); As for the '010 itself, I've had no problems with the one I have. However, I'd love to be able to combine the 68010's efficiency with the 14MHz speed. That should give you a throughput well over 2.

I'm surprised that 68010 at 16mhz are not available. I'll look at where I got my 68000 16mhz. Who knows?. Rej
