#animating CEL's
3 messages in this thread
Anyone,
I have a question about Animator Pro 3.1. I do not use it too often, so this
might be a stupid question. Am I able to paste a .CEL to one side of the
screen and move it to the other side, where the program is filling in between
while it is increasing or decreasing the .CEL size? In other words, I need a
20 frame animation, where frame 1 starts with a CEL on the left side and then
it starts to move towards the right, and as it moves, it is getting bigger.
Thanks,
Mike C.

I would use the Optics menu. First get your cel. Then pop up the optics menu.
Select "Clear All" from the Presets pull-down. Select "Cel" from the Element
pull-down. Select the "size" button, click in your image and scale your cel.
Select the "move" button, click in your image and move your cel. Click "View"
to preview or "Use" to render.
I would advise scaling your cel from large to small, rather than the other way
around. If you scale up your cel, you will find some pretty offensive
"jaggies". Do the sequence backwards, then save it with the "Backwards"
option.

Hi Michael. You sure can. Clip the cel at it's largest size. Then use the
CEL/Stretch to shrink it down to the smallest size you want, keeping the
vertical and horizontal reduction percentages uniform (the same). Use CEL/Move
to place the cel where you want it to start on the screen, in this case the
left side, even off the screen if you like.
Create 20 frames of blank or background, then go to OPTICS, clear/reset
existing settings, set optics treatment of cel (rather than flic), and then use
XY mode on MOVE and pick points from left to right (you'll see the cel outline
as you move it). You can pick several times to get the cel placed on the right
side where you want it. Use the VIEW option to see your progress. Then use
SCALE and pick points to increase the cel's size. Again use VIEW to make sure
you have what you want. Finally pick on USE and PREVIEW the animation before
RENDERing it. If you like what you see, pick on RENDER. Keep in mind that the
CEL will be pasted using the current INK, try OPAQUE for starters. There are
several ways to accomplish what you're doing, and you might also want to
experiment with PATH and ROTATE options under OPTICS. Hope this helps. -dave
