I just took a look at your VBTIPS / Viewer program. I got an error on the
OPEN statement in CATEGOR.FRM. I removed DataDrive$ from the statement,
and it worked fine. FWIW, DataDrive$ was "e:[MS-RAMDRIVE]" and DataPath$
was "e:\".
Anyway, I saw the book reviews at the end of the file, and was wondering
if you wanted to include magazine reviews as well? There was J.D.'s article
in CLM, and there's one by the VB Program Manager (and a couple of other
people in the latest MSJ. I assume we can skip the Gibson stuff!
BTW, I really like the look of the viewer. Maybe I'll "port" the LURKER
phone book to it!

Thanks for the catch. I'm always forgetting about DataPath$ having the
drive spec in it too. (I use this same file-open form in several programs.
I guess that nobody else has experienced the problem because they had the
files on the default drive, in which case DataDrive$ = "". I hope everyone
sees your message and removes all references to DataDrive$ in the code.
I think it would be a great idea to reference significantly helpful VB
articles in magazines, as well as how to subscribe to magazines that
frequently have VB articles.
Another topic I've had in the back of my mind and never done anything about
is an up-to-date list of VB-related items in the MSKB.
Feel free to adapt the Viewer to Lurker, if you like.

Thanks. Are all these articles going to be of technical interest, or just
"What a neat thing VB is" types of articles? I'd rather confine the list to
"tips" type stuff.

Well, the "technical interest" aspect of most of them is pretty limited.
I'd say forget the ones in Byte, but include Dr. Dobbs & MSJ, and I'll
let you make the call on J.D.'s article! Actually, I'd include all of
them; what's of technical interest to you and me may be quite different
than the guy who's an in-house programmer who's trying to find articles
on VB to show to his boss to justify trying out VB on a project. Just
my humble opinion, of course! <g>
