Thanks for the help. I was able to load Chaos with the Dos 5 Loadfix
command. It works great! Now a couple of other questions: What VGA modes
will chaos work in and how do I set them? And how much effect will a math
coprocessor have on execution speed? I have a 386-33 with a 1024×768 256
color svga system but no coprocessor.

Hi Craig,
Chaos only works in the 640x480x16 graphics modes. A math co will probably
give you 2x to 5x increase in speed in most situations, but won't appear to
make a difference in the mandel if you have a 386 until you zoom in a few
times. You'll know it when it happens because the program will beep when
it switches from 32 bit integer calculations to floating point.

Not quite true. Chaos runs in 640x480x16 on most of the modules; the Toy
Universes piece runs in 640×350 (so it can do page flipping); and the
Fractal Forgeries part also uses 320x200x256.
I guess I'll put an 80387 on my xmas list. At least with that I will
reduce the amouunt of time I 'waste' in Chaos. It's real easy to spend
hours in those fractal dimensions. Craig

Grant and Josh told you what you need to know – no modes to set, since the
Chaos modules won't go above 640×480. Sorry I didn't jump in sooner – I
don't log onto the ASOFT forum as often as I do ACAD.
For higher resolution fractals, you might check out FRACTINT, a freeware
fractal generator in the COMART forum. I believe it has drivers for various
super VGA cards. No Rudy Sets, though <g>.

I've seen Fractint some. I'm going to stick with Chaos for a while. It
will take me months to understand all that is in there.
