I am considering a Canon A-1 Digital for video input to a frame capture board. Anyone have any experience with this camera?

Stephen, if at all possible, go for one of the three chip models. While the A-1 is an outstanding piece of equipment, the difference between a single pickup and separated primary system is considerable, especially if you plan to do single frame extractions from it for computer display or printing. You should mention that a 3 Chip Camera requires more light for a good image than a single chip camera. Personal Observation

Hi, Peter!! Long time no chat <g>. True, better lighting required but the chroma accuracy difference is well worth it IMHO. I should imagine that the newer series of DigiCams will be exporting into the U. S. late this year (finaly) which make the previous generations look like the original TriniCams. However, the limiting factor still remains with the production chains that won't do R/G/B all the way through and support the full 16:9 capabilities of them. Of course full utilization of the format is still a couple of years away, but, with a good film recorder, quite a bit can be done with motion picture contracts until then. Vince

Stephen, I recently bought the Can A1 Dig and have really found it great for the price. The manual features are absolutely essential to sort out tough lighting and sound situations and the digital effects are pretty clean. I am in the process of setting myself up as you are for video capture and have been looking at the Power Mac 7100 AV with the Power Spigot card. What are you planning to use? Does anyone else widh to comment on the choice and limitations I can expect?
