Tom, most all files here on CIS are in archived (compressed) form, to make your downloads faster (and cheaper). If the filename ends in '.LZH' then you need the program LHARC to decompress the file. If the filename ends in '.ZOO' then you need the program ZOO to decompress. If the filename ends in '.ARC' then you need the program ARC or PKAX to decompress. Nearly everyone used LHARC here these days, so I'd get the LHARC program first. You can find it in the libraries in AmigaUser/Compression or something like that. After you get the decompression program, you need to decompress each file you download. Usually you do this by 1) getting into you CLI, 2) typing something like: LHARC x <filename> ; where <filename> is the name of your downloaded file. Good luck. Tom, The files here are all compressed. This is partly to make the download smaller (saving you money) and partly to keep all the small files needed for a given application in the same download. You need the archive utilities that will unpack these files. For files whose names end in .LZH (most of our files) you need LHARC.EXE in Library 16 of AmigaUser. You probably would also do well to download ARCHLP.EXE, a tutorial on the use of archivers. Both of these programs can be run just as you download them. Just open a shell, make sure they are in your current directory, and type ARCHLP.EXE. It will tell you how to use LHARC.EXE. If you need more help, please do ask. This can be quite confusing until you have done it two or three times, and we're glad to stick with you while you learn. Betty
