#macro help
3 messages in this thread
I'm trying to help a friend convert over 200 Prowrite 3.2 docs into ASCII.
I wrote some simple macros but they are not working correctly. Here is a sample
of one:
/* comment line */
CLOSE
SETPATH 'DOCS:'
OPEN
SETPATH 'TEMP:'
SAVE AS (tried SAVEAS too)
CLOSE
I then repeat this several times in the macro.
The SAVE AS requestor never opens! (actually, the SAVE AS requestor does open
if I open an ascii file instead of a Prowrite document!)
I can live with clicking on the ASCII TEXT gadget (it would be nice if the
macro language would allow me to automate that…I understand 3.3 does?)
So, how can I get this simple macro to work???
thanks!
Fred,
The example you give change to the Doc: path present the open requester,
change the path to Temp: and save the document with the name AS. No SaveAs
requester will be presented. Changing the command Save As to SaveAs should
work. With Text documents the SaveAs requester will show the path set by
the path command with ProWrite Documents the Path Command will not override
the path that the document was saved at and you would need to manually set
the path. This could be done by typing Temp: in front of the document name
in the save as requester.
With the new 3.3 version of ProWrite we have added a new SaveAsText AREXX
command that will allow you to create the following macro.
/* ProWrite to Text * /
Options Results /* Let's use variables
*/
Close /* Close Active Document
*/
SetPath "Docs: /* Set the Path
*/
do while RC = 0 /* Loop until Open is cancelled
*/
Open /* Present the Open Requester
*/
DocName /* Put the current Document Name in Result
*/
SaveAsText "Temp:" || Result /* Save as Text in Temp:
*/
Close /* Close the current Document
*/
end
Hope this helps

I took out the SETPATH just prior to SAVEAS and the SAVE AS requestor DID
Open! This will have to do (manually entering ie: temp: before the
filename) and then click on Text_Only
thanks!
