#Access!

I have finally decided to give up on Diga! as "my" communications software
and downloaded Access! v1.42 to check it out. I really like the look and
feel, but need the Scripts. I have tried unsuccessfully to have a script
'pick up' by waiting for "Connect". I have added the '$' before the path
and name of the script – no luck. I've also activated the Do Script button
– no luck. I can execute the same script after the connection is made, but
I really need the software to do that for me.
Is there something I'm missing? You're assistance would be greatly
appreciated.

Steve,
Hmmm… it's been a while, so bear with me on this… but I think that
the trouble is that you are starting your script by waiting for 'Connect'
which the auto-dialer feature of the program has already 'eaten'.
You might try a simple script that just prints things to the screen (or
print some things to the screen in your current script to debug where it is
within the script) and see if you can narrow it down any. If you do this,
you could at least tell when/if the script starts executing.
Thanks for the comments… this might sound strange comming from the
author of the program, but… since I haven;t really updated the program
since '88 (v1.42), it's a bit 'dated'. You might have a look at some of
the other more recent programs that can be found in lib 5 here (personally
I'd recommend BackTalk, others like JRComm and a few other terms).

I did try a script without a WAIT "Connect" command. Just had it print
some text as you suggested, with no success. Also, I did with and without
the Auto-dialer.
If you don't no of anything else I might be doing wrong, I give your
suggetions a try.
Thanks for your reply.

Steve,
So you didn't even see the text print to the screen ? It sounds like
it's not finding the script… just to recap, to run a script once you get
connected, there must be a '$' as the _first_ character in the comment
field (above the first '-' mark in the display) followed immediately by the
name of the script file to be run (if you don't specify the full path, then
it will look for the script in the _current_ "System Dir:" (can be found on
the Define window). You must also have the 'Do-Script' gadget selected in
the phone-book.
You might try the following… put the file in ram: and call it
'logon.scp' then, in the phone book, it should look like this…
BBS Name 1-(234)-555-1212 2400 F8N1 $ram:logon.scp
|–System Name—|–Phone Number—|-Baud|-Set|—–Script/Comment——|
…replacing, of course, the BBS Name and phone-number etc. with the
number you are trying to dial.
Good Luck,
– Keith
