#New EA Products

I don't know if this is considered new information, I just heard it today
(officially) from Electronic Arts.
Deluxe Paint 4.5 is expected to ship sometime soon (possibly next quarter,
maybe even sooner).
This version of Dpaint is going to support ALL current resolution modes.
This includes ultra hi-res interlaced, productivity mode..and..get this..
ALL of the double A chipset modes. Literally every Amiga resolution mode
will be supported.
Sorry that I don't have any more information on Dpaint than that, but
that's all I really wanted to know about it. When told about this by EA, I
asked if this was public information, and the answer was an enthusiastic
YES.
Another piece of info. for anyone interested, Deluxe Music 2.0 should be
shipping sometime in early 93. I didn't ask for a feature list, but by the
tone of the person on the other end of the phone, this is a major new
release.
This information comes from a producer staffed at EA's head office.

Gee, I wonder if they _fixed_ the enforcer hits. I'm currently in REFUSE
TO PAY FOR UPGRADE from EA until they DO fix them since I offered to help
them find the ones in DPAINT III and they _assured_ me they were fixed.
"…and get this… ALL of the double A CHIPSET MODES…"
Jim, whadaya mean double A chips… you mean AGA chips?
Thanxs,
Jorge Escobar/MEGABYTE PRODUCTIONS (..and AutoPilot, of course!)
Jorge…
When all this stuff about the new chipset was known, but under non
disclosure, it was called double A. In my mind, that's what the chipset is
called. Sorry for the confusion.

I saw (and "played with") my first 4000 at local dealer's Friday, and
somewhere in its own doc files it referred to "AA" chip capabilities, not
"AGA".

Jorge,
The new chipset was been known by at least 3 names (maybe more that I
don't know about). AA has been the working name for the last year or so.
Just a week or so before public announcement of the chipset AA became AGA.
The reason given was because AA had a negative connotation. Personally I
liked the name used before AA but it had some interesting sexual
connotations that prohibited its public use.

And what name was that?
John,
You were at Devcon, so you already know! If CBM wanted it publically
known they wouldn't have changed it to AA then AGA.

I sure hope that all of the component functions of DMCS V2.0 MULTITASK.
The OLD version I had would not at all, so I stopped using it.

Do you know if DMCS files can be converted to MIDI files?
–Paul Still on AutoPilot
I have no idea about the proposed DMCS V2.0, whether it will be able to
output MIDI data files or not. I don't remember if the older version(s) of
DMCS did or did not – I gave my copy away to someone else since it drove
me up a wall every time I tried to use it.
There are or were several "conversion program" available. You might either
try the AmigaFileFinder or post another message here, and address it to
"all".

Jim,
It was possible to multitask DMCS, but, it was never a very stable
configuration. The trick was to start your other program before DMCS. It
helped to have it be a program running on the Workbench Screen, to prevent
DMCS from shutting down Workbench. (That's how SoundScape used to
multitask with DMCS.)
David
My "multitasking problem" with DMCS wasn't so much with other programs,
but within DMCS ITSELF. With the version that I had, you could NOT start
the song playing and then choose any other menu function without causing
the player to stop, or at least, be interrupted.
Sonix and Dr. T's programs allow me to open up a score requestor and go
searching for my next "piece" to play, while they are continuing to play
what I had already loaded/started, WITHOUT ANY or much of any interruption
at all, and CERTAINLY, without forcing the player to stop all together.
I may have had a VERY early version of DMCS, but to me it was more of a
joke than a useful tool. If I cannot open up ANY requestor within DMCS
V2.x without interrupting or stopping the current play back, then I am not
interested in whatever goodies they ladden it with.
A true multitasking program must not only multitask with any other
program, but must also multitask within itself, or it is not multitasking
– only the OS is.
