Phil, Altho' most vid-card manufacturers include ADI drivers, the particular ones I use are Panacea, Inc. Display List Drivers (DLD386-VGA(tm)) for the Diamond Turbo VGA (TS4000). After the initial config, you simply set four DOS environment variables DLDCFG=C:\driver_dir DSPADI=C:\driver_dir\driver_name RDPADI= .. ditto .. RCPADI= .. ditto .. Other Autodesk products scan the environment for these pointers, and video performance is typically 2-4x faster (and, at whatever resolution you config for). I've got mine set to 640x480x256, and *it seemed* (remember, this is highly subjective!) that CHAOS was crisper, brighter. But, spend a week or two staring at Blue-on-Gray AutoCAD, and a TV Test Pattern looks pretty exciting, too <G>. Let me know if you experience the same thing. 73, Tom.

I assure you that CHAOS pays no attention whatsoever to any of these variables; neither does Metashel. I've not a clue what is going on, but is sure is interesting. It is possible that the SVGA Bios sets something up that isn't reset if you first run something that pays attention to the variables. Fascinating.
