We have not been able to get the rendering driver for our Targa board to work properly on our new Compaq 486/50mHz machine. I posed the problem to the Sysop of the Compaq forum, who issued the following reply: ——————————-#: 5418 S8/Customer Service 09-Oct-92 14:28:17 Sb: #5290-486/50 & 3D Studio Fm: Larry Edington [Sysop] 75300,3533 To: Rick Owens 70550,3426 Yes, we have discovered a problem with the Pharlap DOS extender and our 50 and 66M. Pharlap reads a cache status bit incorrectly and causes protected mode drivers to fail. This will happen on any 2.6 version of the DOS extender. This version is on Autodesk's current product line. We will upload a SoftPaq file to correct this problem that works on any of the Autodesk programs. Search the data library on Pharlap or Autodesk. —————————–I understood half of what he said!). Are you guys at Autodesk aware of this? If so, where can I get the file he mentions here and what should I do with it once I obtain it ? Any help would be appreciated.o

3DSr2 comes with a program called OLDDX, which you can use to convert the Phar Lap 2.6 version to 2.2. Have you tried that yet? – G

You can download the file from the Compaq forum I put in the new uploads library early this week. OLDDX should do the trick also but will not give you the benefits of the latest DOS extender.
