We are looking to utilize the built-in SCSI-2 port on our Compaq
Portable 486c – currently it has only driver support for a few CD-ROM
drives. The easiest way seems to have an ASPI driver, and use
CorelSCSI to supply the needed device drivers (hard disk, CD-ROM,
DAT). Our primary applications are in Windows 3.1 (CorelDRAW,
Bookshelf/Word, etc.) but we would still need/want DOS support for 3D
Studio and (of course) games.
You might take a look at ASPITAPE (ASTAPE.EXE) over in IBMHW. This is a
shareware generic DOS driver for ASPI/SCSI tapes. There is also a
companion free utility called PCTAR.EXE which allows you to do backups.
