Anyone know how I can get the latest (I hear it's 1.5) drivers for the
Mitsumi internal (a.k.a. El Cheapo) drive? I'm basically happy with this
product, considering that I didn't expect much for the money, but Mitsumi
was awfully careful not to put any information about contacting them
anywhere on or in the package.

ROMART was able to get me the v1.5 drivers (these ARE the latest) and they
are a major improvement over the v1.2 drivers. The movie clips in Mammals,
which were sort of jerky with the v1.2 drivers, are nice and smooth with
v1.5. Larry tells me that Mitsumi has some new stuff on the way, around
the first of the year, and the speculation is that it will include hardware
and/or software to support Photo CD. Nothing more definite than that; just
speculation at this point. I intend to talk to the Mitsumi folks at Comdex
next month, so maybe I can learn something there.

Mitsumi is releasing a high speed drive in the time frame of 6 months.
