I have a problem with the combination of Sony CD Rom and Soundblaster 1.5 cards. These cards worked together in my 386, but I upgraded to a 486 DX local bus machine. Each card works independently, with the other physically removed. When I put them together the machine locks up right after the message 256K cache. The harddrive is an IDE using a combo I/O local bus card. The video is also local bus (SVGA). I think I have tried every combination of jumpers there is. Does anyone else have the same problem? I talked to Sony, and am still trying to reach Creative Labs (soundblaster).

Bob, the thing to check is the DMA jumpers and the IRQ jumpers. Just be very careful to configure the two boards for separate settings. You might also change the Base Address if the two might conflict.
