Imagine ques/glitch?

I am having difficulty with two areas of Imagine 2.0. 1. I am a CLI user, and often delete rendered PIC.xxxx files from the CLI. The problem is that when I try to perform another render session after deleting previous PIC.xxxx from the CLI, Imagine thinks all those deleted files are still there and refuses to generate new frames. Please don't say "well, then don't do that….", because it is MUCH faster to delete files from the CLI than through the project editor. I need some way to reset the rendered file status so that imagine will determine which files are acually on the disk. My last run was 600 frames, so trudging through delete-error messages from the project editor is out of the question. 2. Staging Editor: When a change is made to the position of a tracked object, the tracking angles/positions of the altered objects will not be reflected on the screen unless I exit the staging editor and then re-enter it. Performing a 'screen refresh' operation has no effect. Clicking on 'camera retrack' has no effect. Is an update in the works ?? Ron Flory, 71053,3551

Ron, 1) if you delete your pic files outside Imagine, then the program has no knowledge of what you've done. You need to use Imagine's Delete function for it to update its control file. (You can still delete the images themselves via AmigaDOS, but you'll need to use Imagine's Delete afterwards. So it's faster to just delete from within Imagine and be done with it) On a related note, if you change sub-project parameters, Imagine will delete all your pictures… NOT! It simply _shows_ them as being deleted; the pic files are still present on disk! This is needed because changing resolution, file format or rendering method _should_ invalidate all current images. However, if all you did was change the View Mode for the files, they should still be valid. The solution: select all pics with Range, then click on Import. Imagine will flag all images for which a file can be found. This is the only practical use I've found for Import. 2) To refresh the display after you've moved a tracked object, press Right-Amiga-C and Return. ("Go To" current frame) Imagine will reload everything and redisplay the scene. Although I'm surprised that Camera Retrack has no effect — this is why the function was added in Imagine 2.0! Are you sure the currect frame is a key frame for the tracked object? Remember, changes made to an object in Stage won't "stick" unless you're on the first frame of an alignment/position/size bar, or the last frame of such a bar's transition zone. Blaq!

About the deleted rendered PIC.xxxx files you can make sure that you un-select `Generate New Cell' that will let Imagine generate the pictures even if they are already rendered. Whenever you are tacking anything to another object or axis and you make a change you need to do the following: Enter the Action Editor and delete the alignment bar, then add a Alignment bar and select `Track to Object' and enter the name of the object as found in the Action List on left. Save and when you enter the Stage Editor and you then do any changes you can then `Camera (Re)-Track' and it will follow you object as you want. The problem with Imagine here is that it defaults to aligning the camera to tweening position and when you select `Camera (Re)-Track' and enter the object it won't save that since it is still trying to use tweening position. That is why it is called `(Re)- Track' since they expect you to already have set it to track in the first place. This is a problem they need to fix.
