I am currently using a PC but I would like to use my Amiga to access
Compuserve & other modem based activities. I am also new to using
Compuserve to download file. Is there an easy to use communications program
I could download/does it support ZModem?

For CompuServe, you do not want Zmodem – you want B+ protocol.
If you are running 2.04 on your Amiga, go to Library 9 of AmigaVendor and
get AP.LHA – AutoPilot. It will collect all of your mail, messages, and
downloads automatically and fast. Then it will present you with an editor
in which you answer the mail and messages, and next time you sign on it
sends things up for you. It's really great, and will save you a great
deal of money in connect time.

I thought about AutoPilot when it was first announced, but was put off
by a statement in Amiga Vendors that it only works in Interlace.
Unfortunately, my terminal does not have a flicker-fixer and Interlace
drives me round the bend! Am I wrong; will AP actually work in Hires?

I'm sorry, but Autopilot does require Interlace. Quite a few people have
been using it by just adjusting the color palette to minimize the flicker.
There is an AREXX script in Vendor to help you do that, I believe. You
might want to try it out and see if it would be workable for you by
careful color selection.

Autopilot does only work in interlace, because it needs the extra lines
provided in Hires-Interlace mode. The color scheme, though, is reasonably
good, which minimized the effects of flicker. I've been using AP w/o a
flicker-fixer for a while now, and even though it does flicker slightly, I
wouldn't give it up.

Try Backtalk, BT155A.LHZ in the Communications library (LIB 5).
You might also want to try one of the two automated CIS access programs
for the Amgia, Whap! for Workbench 1.3, and the newer AutoPilot for
Workbench 2.04 and above. You'll find functional demos of both of them in
the Autopilot/Whap! message section of the AmigaVendor forum.
