#Amax II+ questions

HI! I'm thinking about buying an Amaxx II+ and I was wondering if anyone
has a list of programs that are NOT compatible with it. I am specifically
interested in using "Performer" (sequencing), Alchemy, and Sound Designer.
(Sample editing) I've heard that only a few hard drives work with it. What
about Syquest or Bernouli removable drives? Does it support Mac HighDensity
floppies? I would be grateful for any information on the above, or any
additional comments you might have! Thanks…

AMaxxII+ will support the HD drive if you have one. I use the AMAX
cartridge and have two Syquests and a Wangtek Tape drive I use with it or
in Amiga native mode. If I had a HD floppy, then I could use it with AMaxx
too. Can't help you with the MIDI questions, but supposedly the +card can
use it.
Just about everything I've run with AMAX has worked except a golf game I
have and the swing meter wouldn't detect my releasing the mouse button.
QuarkXpress, Pagemaker, Excel, Word all work fine, as does Retrospect
backup Adobe Illustrator 3.2, FreeHand, PhotoShop and Metamorphosis Pro.
Of course its all in Black & White, no color support yet.

I have an AMaxII+ card in my A3000. I can't tell you about the programs
you mentioned as I don't have any of them. I can tell you that AMax will
work with SyQuest drives, as well as many SCSI tape drives (with the
proper backup software). If you have an A3000 with Commodore's hi density
drive AMax will use it to read/write Mac hi density floppies.

The AMAXII+ internal card does not support the use of external MAC floppy
drives. It will use your Amiga floppy drive as a MAC floppy drive, and if
you have an Amiga High Density floppy drive, AMAXII+ will use that as a
MAC high density floppy drive. AMAXII+ also supports the MAC/Apple Filel
Exchange.
Yes, it does support the Commodore High density floppy drives

Amax II+ will not usefully support Sound Designer as you really need the
Digidesign Sound Accelerator card and interfaces and therefore a nubus slot
to put it in. Why not be loyal to the Amiga community and buy a SunRize
AD516 board instead? There shouldn't be too many problems with the
sequencing stuff tho.
