Thanks for the help. I was using setver.exe improperly. I forgot to add the device=setver statement to my config.sys file. It works fine now except for one problem. At first I could not get the video to work in the Groliers encyclopedia. the little window would appear, then the text box at the bottom, then it would pop back to the menu and not show the video. I played with the drivers all night and finally got the video part to work. I watch over a dozen videos. Now I have done something and I cannot get the video to work again. I am using the ver 1.5A drivers and have tried all three transfer approaches, software interrupt, DMA and software polling. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? I've stripped down my config.sys and autoexec.bat files to create as much conventional memory as possible. I know it works because I have seen the videos. I am having fun…I think.

Do you have perhaps a multi-mode VGA mode which auto-switches? I have found that some cards, after kicking themselves into Hercules or some other emulation, don't kick out quite as easily for some software. Try doing a MODE CO80 or reboot before going into Grolier. Kind of a long shot, but it's all I can think of.
