I find that I can't make a pure white (255 in R, G, B) in DCTV paint. I can
set the color that way and paint with it, but after I save the file, it
will come back as a 254 gray.
That's a problem because I have been using DCTV as a scanner to create
24-bit IFF files which I import into PageStream. Older versions of
PageStream's PostScript driver would print 254 gray as white, but the newer
ones print it as light gray. I'd like to use some of the features of the
newer drivers, but I don't like having no "whiteout" in my paint program.
That's because DCTV paints in NTSC colour and not RGB. NTSC uses lower
saturation colours and in most cases will automatically put limitations on
any RGB images that you load in. Pure white is the least affected, but can
still be affected.
You need an image processor and/or RGB paint program. The key here is RGB,
not NTSC for desktop publishing, if you want pure whites guaranteed.
