I just downloaded and tried the BaudBandit.device. I am using BackTalk v. 1.55a on an A3000 under WB 2.04. When I attempted a download (using xprquickb.library) here on CIS, the program hung up. Eventually I got a "Software Failure" requester and rebooted. After rebooting, and even after a power-down, BackTalk won't work with the serial.device any more, but only with BaudBandit.device. I did not change BackTalk's configuration. It still says "serial.device". If I send a piece of text to ser:, the modem lights flash, but with BackTalk, it's dead unless I run the patch that substitutes BaudBandit.device for serial.device. Neither of these files has been altered. There is something seriously wrong here. BaudBandit.device should be _optional_. As things stand, it looks more like a virus than a resource.

Michael, Re-copy serial.device from the devs drawer of your original WB disk. Don

serial.device was unchanged (!?). I am sure at this point that the bug is with BackTalk 1.55a

Michael, You've lost me…I don't have your original message, but seem to recall that BT only reacted bad when you used baudbandit.device with it, and that you then went back and tried using serial.device and still had problems. I then suggested you make sure that serial.device wasn't modified and you've now replied that serial.device is unchanged…so the problem must be BT's. If the above is correct…then I beg to differ with you. If BT worked fine until you used baudbandit.device, and quit working after that…then baudbandit.device has somehow or other modified something (exactly what I don't know) that is now causing problems. If my memory of hte problem is incorrect…please refresh my memory as to what the original problem was. Don

Strange. I am running BaudBandit.device 1.4 with AutoPilot and NCOMM without problems. (I got it directly from the author after paying my shareware fee, so I don't believe in virus, because a virus author usually is anonymous.) Regards, J0RGEN ….from DENMARK

J0RGEN, I`m also running BaudBandit (1.4) with all my term-software with no problem at all (reg. version) And I have the impression that the dataflow is much faster. – Horst – – Horst – all the way from northern Germany BY AUTOPILOT !!!!
