Its like the cache process somehow corrupts the Photo CD images.
When I use Mosiac to view the supplied Corel clipart I have never
encountered banding problems of any sort (regardless of reading from the
CD ROM or from a RAM disk).
I assume it has to do with the new file format of the Photo CD files as
all my other clipart and sound files have been cached fine in the past.
I will contact Future Systems Solutions to see if they know of any anomilies
caching Photo CD files.
Has anyone else run into any problems caching/reading Photo CD's?
If you are planning to convert Photo CD images to other formats be aware of
the large space requirements. I used Mosiac to export one of the sample
Photo CD images to a tiff file using 1024 x 768 resolution and it took over
1.1 MB of storage. It then took 4 or 5 minutes to load into Word for Windows.
