Any Toshiba CD-ROM users have a problem with the BUSY light coming on when inserting the CD, and never going off? I have four XM-3201B Toshiba's on an IBM SCSI controller. Two out of four consistently fail with the BUSY light problem. I have powered these units off, and let them cool down overnight. The following morning, they work fine for a while. The units don't seem warm to the touch, and have been positioned horizontally and vertically, but the problem remains. Presently, they are verticle with approx 2 inch separation.

You're making me nervous, I have one of these drives. I've never had a problem with it. One thing comes to mind, are you running all these off one PC power supply? Have you tried a different controller? -Bill

I called Toshiba support, and they think my drives may need a thorough cleaning. Seems the 3201 doesn't self-clean, the 3301 does. I am ordering a cleaning kit, and I'll let you know what happens. I do not think it's a controller problem, cuz I have two other Toshiba's running fine on this same controller. I've narrowed it down to the drives themselves, via swapping addresses and cables and etc.

Good luck Galen. I didn't read your message carefully enough, I have a 3301, I guess I don't have to worry about your problem. Can you expand on the 'self-cleaning' feature of the newer drives? -Bill
