No AGA Support???

I just (mere minutes ago) had a strange conversation with Impulse. I
called as per the suggestion given me here to inquire about an upgrade to
a version of Imagine 2.0 that supports the AGA chipset (as reported in
AmigaWorld). The gentleman on the other end first stated that Impulse had
NO representative on CIS. (Who am I communicating with here?) I was also
told that there was NO such upgrade. He said that they would look at the
market in about six months to see if there were a large enough installed
base of AGA machines and then make a decision. I then asked if Imagine 3.0
would support the 4000 and AGA. He said probably NOT!
NO support here on CIS, NO support for AGA!

Steve Gilmour of Impulse is the representive here on CIS.
A good way around the AGA stuff for now is to get ImageMaster or ADPro.
Both can handle (or will shortly) the AGA stuff.

Then why would the guy who answered ths phone at Impulse swear that
Impulse was not on ANY net. When I mentioned the Impulse section here in
AmigaVend he insisted that Impulse was not represented on any nets and
that they "don't like to get in your face", whatever that means? He
claimed that this must be just a user support group!

Thanks, I am a happy Imagemaster user and I did know that. But it WAS
reported in print that Imageine would be supporting AGA and that it WOULD
be a free upgrade.
The conversation I had with this gentleman was so negative that I was very
surprised. Maybe I was talking to one of Impulse's MSDOS programers –
AMEGA, AGA, what's that, who cares! 😉

I don't know for sure who answered your phone call. Steve Gillmour *is*
here, and he is the official rep from Impulse. Why that person said what
he did, I have no idea.

WEll, I hope Steve Gillmour will read this thread and give us the true
story regarding AGA support in 2.0 and 3.0. Steve G. are you out there?

Steve was doing this on his own. Since about a week ago he and Impulse had
an amicable parting of ways so he is no longer doing online <semiofficial>
Impulse support anywhere.

Well, I don't blame him for leaving since Impulse did not even acknowledge
his efforts on their behalf. I guess that means that the Impulse section
here should be discontinued since it would be wrong to give the impression
that users can actually contact Impulse here!

I reported in my A4000 article in AW that Imagine would have an AGA
upgrade. That information was given me by Mike Halverson of Impulse. He
stated that AGA syupport would be easy and they would have the upgrade
mentioned in the article…

Yes I know, that's where I first read about the upgrade. And that is
why that phone call was so puzzling. Maybe I did just get someone who did
not know what he was talking about. But then again I have not yet heard
anything from Impulse here on CIS. Strange?
I could call again and mention that I communicated (Boy we need a new
verb here. "Communicated" is too long and "talked" is not accurate.) with
you. Maybe you could get in touch with Mike and find out what the real
story is.
I'll try again and see what I can come up with. If you find out
anything please let us know.
