CrossDOS trouble

I am having trouble with CrossDOS v4.0 on my Amiga 2000. I usually am able
to read 3.5" disks created on an MSDOS machine. However, disks I write with
CrossDOS almost always generate sector-not-found or data errors when read
on the MSDOS system. The problem gets worse with longer files and with more
than one file on the disk. I tried first formatting new disks at 720k on
the MSDOS system, but this doesn't seem to help.
I think that my Amiga drive is not out of alignment because I have no
trouble exchanging disks with other Amigas. Also, I have tried these
CrossDOS disks in three or four MSDOS machines with the same poor results.
What has been your experience with CrossDOS? Any suggestions?
Tom… you should upgrade to CrossDos 5. Call Consultron for the upgrade
price and details. In the meantime, you might want to check your CrossDos
revison #, and see if there is a patch in AmigaUser to update it to a more
recent version.

My experieces with CrossDOS (all versions) have been completely trouble
free. You may want to check your disks to ensure that they are not High
Density disks. The Amiga/CrossDOS won't complain about formatting a HD
disk to 720k, but I have run into alot of IBM types that don't like it a
bit! If that isn't the problem call Consultron. The few times I have
called they were very helpful and friendly.

by the way, if your problem does turn out to be caused by a PC freaking
out over HD disks formatted at 720K instead of 1.44M, here's a trick: HD
disks have two holes, one for write protect, the other to say "I'm a HD
disk!". Cover the other with masking tape and the computer will think it's
a normal-density floppy. I had to use that once to force a Mac to format an
IBM disk at 720K, since the PC didn't have a high-density drive.
