Hi. I am new to Compuserve, and I am having trouble downloading any files.
Whenever I try the program hangs and I have to crash out of it and log back
onto Compuserve. It does this when I try with either Xmodem or Kermit. My
computer is an Amiga 500 and I am using Rubyterm software.

I'm sorry that I don't know Rubyterm – in fact, never heard of it. Is
that the only term program you have?
Of the two protocols you suggested, I would recommend Kermit. My
suspicion is that you have set your term program for 7E1 and you have to
have it set for 8N1 in order to download binary files. Try setting your
serial for 8 bits, No parity, 1 Stop Bit, and then try downloading with
Kermit. If that works, make your next download a terminal program that
will support the B or B+ protocols. They are much faster and easier to
use.
