Peter,
Yes 3.0 will ship on October 28th, this version will be for present
users and will not have the manual, it seems that we have added too much to
expect the manual author to write about things he does not know about.
Once the manual is done we will ship everyone a manual and most likely
another version of the software with even more goodies.
We have stuffed 3.0 to the gills and its starting to bust at the seams.
Hope that helps your planning.
Mike
I read that the 3.0 will ship on Oct 28. Great, I send in my order more then a
month ago 🙂
Got some questions here:
1) Will 3.0 allow me to load an Image (IFF) into Stage and use the image as a
back ground as refference for animation ? This comes in really handy when you
want to rotoscope onto Video or prerecorded material (curretnly I have to guess
what I am doing).
2) Is there an accurate CAMERA Window with correct aspect ration ? Aspect
ratio that matches NTSC, PAL and other Film format plus a Safety Area in the
CAMERA window will really help.
3) 3.0 going to support other screen mode, such as the Double Hires, while
using the Editor, Stage etc ?

Sze C,
Neat name,.
At this point we Imagine will not do the image back rotoscope we are
working on it, the problems comes into bit planes and the like, with the FC 24
I do that all the time because I genlock the amiga over the fc24
Working in other res formats requires some additional math that will
slow down Redraw, for the time being we Imagine is 640 by 400 however the
output files can be any res you like and Imagine will support them directly, ie
Ham 8 etc…
Thanks for the reply. I Got a suggestion for the image back
rotoscope; convert the back image to Black and wihte picture. Can't
wait to get hold of the 3.0 imagine. Please check to see if my name
is on the shipping list, I ordered it over a month ago, just in case.
🙂
if I had to rotoscope a scene, I would genlock my Amiga display
over the scene and draw "over" the image. You may have to account for
some offset between Imagine's full-screen preview (when the
Perspective window is clicked to full-screen) and the underlying
video, due to menu bars and the like; your preview might not match
the final render perfectly. But once you learn to compensate by
mentally composing your Imagine scene 10 pixels below the video image
for example, you could successfully rotoscope anything you wanted.
Another possibility, as Mike mantioned, would be to use a 24-bit
board, such as the Firecracker24, which overlays the Amiga display
onto the 24-bit display. You can then capture a video frame and show
it onto the board, then flip your Amiga display over to the Imagine
screen and rotoscope away. The advantage with this method is that you
could use an image processing program like Imagemaster to resize and
reposition the 24-bit frame to match the offset created by the
imperfect Perspective preview. You could even assign it to a function
key through a simple ARexx script, making it easy to resize every
frame you need to rotoscope.
Greetings Blaq
Thanks for the suggestions. The FireCrakcer24 solution might not work for me.
I am in a PAL area over this side of the Earth 🙂
The Genlock might work. I don't have a genlock yet but I'll see what I can do
some time soon.
What about OPALVision. I know it can display a 24bit picture on the
background. Will OPAL work ?

The upgrade things works a bit differently than the way you purchased
your 2.0, you must upgrade through Impulse in the US, send $110.00 us and we
will ship you the software as soon as we can.
Also make sure that you send in your warranty card if you havent
already.
Mike
Mike,
>> you must upgrade through Impulse in the US,
Does that mean I can't upgrade at the dealer where I bought 2.0? Well I don't
care where I get my upgrade from, but of course I prefer the faster way. I
don't have a warranty card. The only one I got had the address from the german
dealer on it and I sent it to them when I bought Imagine. Where can I upgrade
now? What would you suggest?
-David
David,
The distributor will most like not have upgrades, get yours through us
direct. Send in 100.00 usd plus 10.oo usd for shipping. This is the fastest
and maybe the only way.
OK

Hi Mike,
Are you just talking about the Amiga version, both versions, or the
PC version?
Please excuse me for asking, but I haven't been around here for too
long, so I've most certainly missed it.
this "special service" from Germany was brought to you by…

Derek,
When I speak or write about Imagine, I do so with out the stress of any
particluar platfrom. When develope software with the user in mind, not the
computer that they have. We now have two platforms to work with, however to us
they seem somewhat the same. With out stating the obvious, each of the
computer platforms has its advantages and pitfalls. So all the information
that is released herein is about Imagine and what ever we do happens in
complete parallel.
