#Help! SYS: crash!

The SYS: partition on my hard disk crashed…now it has a READ WRITE ERROR. The
files on it seem to be OK, but I can't delete or write to them. The machine
says the SYS: partition is NOT VALIDATED.
Is there some kind of "revalidator" I can use to avoid formatting and rewriting
the partition?
I have backed up the files from that partition…
How do I get the machine to boot from a floppy instead of the damaged SYS:?
If I format the bad SYS:, will the other two partitions on the disk be
affected?
I've been running OS 1.3 on a 2000, if you can believe that.

You might want to try DiskSalv to repair the partition. It's available here in
the Amiga forums.
To boot from floppy, just insert a bootable disk. (Like your backup copy of
your original Workbench disk).
If you format SYS:, the other partitions will not be affected. You did back up
your files from the partition; smart move.
There are other disk repair utilities out there, but I have found DiskSalv to
be the best. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. What I wound up doing was that I formatted the SYS:
partition using the backed-up commands that were camping out in another
partition. It worked fine. I was nervous.
I never did get it to boot from a floppy, though…
