I don't understand what you mean about expanded or extended memory with regards
to CHAOS. Are you saying it wouldn't do any good or isn't necessary to increase
RAM? Are you saying 600 KB is enough although the software calls for 640KB.
What hardware needs to be upgraded? There is a 20 MB HD. How much hard drive
space does it use? Thanks.
It won't do any good to increase your RAM; CHAOS doesn't care about anything
other than the "640K" of base memory. The fact that the software "calls for
640KB" is pretty irrelevant — it's really just a warning that CHAOS will pig
out on however much memory is available, and TSR's of various sorts will run
the chance of eating up too much memory. But 600K is certainly plenty; when I
developed it, I was running with about 510K free. And you've got plenty of disk
space; that's not a problem either. Your only problem will be speed; CHAOS
really likes 286's or better (there's some special code to do the Mandelbrots
faster on a 286), and really likes a floating point processor (for speed, not
for functionality). But if you're content with slowness, it will run just fine.
