I HATE CompuServe! On GEnie, messages don't evaporate into thin air after a few days — they stay put until either the person who posted them, or a Sysop, deletes them. This is just one example of how frustrating this can be. Due to pressing deadlines, I haven't been able to do a full pass here since September 1. So now I see this thread about an "Animator Pro Disaster." First message I see (from Yann) says that y'all have never seen it happen before, and that it might be due to a virus. Second message (from Nick) says to also try a clean bootup, and says "This sounds serious." Those are the only two messages in this Thread! The ORIGINAL message, presumably from Chris, which describes the process, isn't there anymore. It evaporated. So now I have no idea what this "sounds serious" "disaster" is, or if it is at all similar to the problems WE have been having. I know AutoDesk has an exclusive contract with CompuServe, which forbids you from having an official presence on any other online service. I also hate exclusivity clause contracts — they smack of anti-trust violations to me. May I suggest that when said contract expires and comes up for renewal that y'all get rid of that clause, and give those of us who so thoroughly despise CompuServe some freedom of choice? On GEnie, I wouldn't have had this problem. Better yet, try adding some technical support phone lines like most other software companies do. — Joel

Marion, Sorry you feel that way, but I wonder if you would really wade through the three thousand six hundred messages that you would have had to scan to even see the thread. That's how many messages were posted since the first of September. And of course that is one of the differences between CIS and GENIE. The Autodesk forums on GENIE would rapidly run out of room with their over two thousand messages a week and several megs of file uploads.

I too have been very interested in the "disasters" quoted here on compuserve. I experienced an abnormal program termination error 'Page Fault'. It happens every time I try to join two or more flicks. It started out happening only on AniPro1.3, but when I went back to AniPro1.0, the same error is happening. I've been in touch with Nik Grant at Autodesk tech support who was real helpful for a while – then I guess he got as frustrated as me because he hasn't returned a call to me for weeks. I'm using Bernoulli drives exclusively, without a hard disk. But for the life of me I can't figure out what has changed to keep me from running successfully. I've even gotten a new 486 motherboard (up from a 386). If you can catch a thread of a similar problem, please let me know. I'm still very desparate!
