It's rather attractive at that price. I didn't notice in the ad… Does
it use a coprocessor/blitter?

The VGA controller used has an onboard blitter that is used for
memory fills and scrolling. Add to this the Zorro II/III autosense
interface and you end up with the fastest display solution available.

In GVP's Spectrum ad, there was a shot of the Workbench that had pretty neat
looking Hard Disk icons. they looked like the inside of a hard disk with the
disk and the read/write arm. Where can I get that icon? Could you upload it or
send it to me through EMAIL?

Yeah that Magic WB is beautiful! Commodore should use that for future OS
releases. (if there are any)

MagicWB is perhaps the "neatest" thing I've seen for the Amiga in a while. It
is so simple (just a backdrop and a few icons) and yet is can change the look
of the Amiga so drastically that people think it's a new machine! The MagicWB
creator should be given a free A4000/040 for his work! 😉
I am using MagicWB also and so far find it to be very nice.
Unfortunately, the MagicWB creator (who is European) reported the other
day via another BBS that he's received only eight or so paid
registrations. A lot more folks than that are using MagicWB. I'm sure it's
partly the problem of getting money to Europe (he won't take checks, for
goodly reason). But some of it is the age-old problem that shareware
authors usually starve.

Hey Ron,
what is magic WB…
Magic Workbench is a shareware set of well-drawn 8-color default
icons, backdrops and new fonts that transform the Workbench into an
extremely professional looking interface. Stunningly good, but you
need Workbench 2.x and up, and for full use of the backdrops an AGA
machine. I've got it running on my A2000 with WB 2.1 though, and it
looks great. The Workbench backdrop looks like marbelized stone. It's
in the libs here.

It isn't only the users of the programs, it's also the authors. I've sent
money orders to Europe and for only half of them did I ever receive notice
confirming they got it, thanks or even an upgrade to the program.
Granted, it was usually only $10 or $15 USD but in Canada it's a pain
because I have to buy US money then buy the money order and then the
postage. Some shareware authors are great to deal with but others can't
even be bothered to drop a postcard in the mail. So, why should I? I'm
not asking to be praised, just acknowledged.
So now, I only support North American developers. Services like CIS and
being able to upgrade online is great but otherwise it isn't worth it to
me unless I can *easily* contact the author and preferably pay by cheque.
My two bits…

I agree. Sending crash across the ocean is, in my opinion, like
sending "a message in a bottle." You can never quite be sure if it
will ever get to its proper destination. I prefer direct wire
transfers myself, but for such a small amount, the bank overhead
would be incredible.
I, for one, love MagicWB! Sending in the shareware fee is on my list
in front of me right now (has been for a month or so) but, I do have
a 'blem with sending cash, in the mail, across the world. Hmmm… I
want to send the minimal fee but, I still just can't get myself to
put cash in the envelope. Looking for "Oh, it's OK. I did it."

Well, I know of others who have sent in cash. It's probably the easiest
thing, and then your conscience is clear. Good old dollars are good just
about anywhere.

Thanks for the info. But please do change your ad to include the part

Does it come with utilities that will let you display GIF pictures, and emulate
the AGA chipset? What kind of support are you getting from other 3rd party
developers like Black Belt, ASDG, VISTA PRO and Scenery Animator etc???
