#Need PC RAM…?

Before I throw this into the Classified Ads, does anyone need any PC RAM? I've
got two sets of 1×9 – Four piece SIMMS (totaling 4MB per set), and one 1×36
SIMM (4MB-72Pin). This memory doesn't work in Amigas, only PCs. Will accept
cash or trade for a 250-300MB SCSI drive or Hayes OPTIMA 144 Modem.

Would you take a Supra 144 for the 4mb simm? How about a Wangtek 5150ES
scsi internal tape backup, 150mb on 6150 tapes? You into Macs? Want to
trade the 1×9 simms for new Macintosh II, IIx, IIcx type simms still in
sealed packs of (4)? If not, netmail me what prices you want then.

The tape drive is tempting, but I would really need something a little bigger
than 150MB. As for the modem, I've seen too many Supra (not to mention
Practical Peripheral) units go bad, and really had my heart set on an Optima.
Mac memory? No, don't really need that, but I could use a set of four – 4×9
SIMMS for a PC, or some Static ZIPS for an A3000 (one or two sets at 4MB a
set). But anyways, the cash deal is still valid at $155 a set, or $300 for
both. Let me know how (un)reasonable that is…

I am sorry but I seem to have forgotten what I was trying to trade you all
that stuff for……sometimes my brain feels like the tagline I saw about
the internet: "The problem is that we are trying to push terabytes through
punybauds".
Only message I found in history was one where you were SELLING two sets of
1×9 simms, which confused me more.

That's okay, the original message is somewhat confusing. I'm selling two
complete sets of RAM, each of which consist of four 1×9-80ns SIMMs. That's 1MB
a SIMM, and on a 386DX or 486SX-DX-DX/2-DX/4 they are usually required in banks
of four (thus 4 SIMMs per set). These are 30-Pin SIMMs. Now I also have one
1×36-80ns SIMM. This SIMM is the newer 72-pin style and actually adds 4MB to
your system. This SIMM has parity bits, so it will only work in most PCs. As
someone else has already mentioned, it _MAY_ work in an A4000 if you rip the
parity chips off of it, but I won't be responsible if it doesn't work after the
alteration. Most of the newer 486 motherboards have 72-Pin sockets, and only
one SIMM is required per bank. Now, what were you looking for?

Free beer and women. I think I got my signals crossed, I was looking for
monitors and had some scsi tapedrives and cache memory chips for PC to
sell/trade. Sorry.
BTW I have used a lot of PC type simms with parity in Amiga cards and the
Ami just ignored the parity bit, I'm doing as I type with 1mbx9 simms.

As for that 1×36 $MB-72 pin SIMM, is it because it is dual sided that you say
it won't work in the A4000? If so, that's not true. I purchases one at a
computer show knowing I could take it back within 30 days. Well, I took it
home SQUEEZED it in my A4000, and it worked; for about 2 months. Then I would
get intermittent crashes because the SIMM would come lose. I could open up my
4000 and reseat it, but eventually it just became too much.
So I did what you're doing, and I tried to sell it. I got I reply from Jim
Drew (developer of the Emplant) saying all I have to do is strip the 4 chips
off of the one side of the SIMM because they were only used by the PC's for
parity and are not used by the Amiga. Needless to say I was very sceptical to
rip chips off a $170 chip, but after I got no replys from anyone to buy it, I
gave it a try, and sure enough… IT WORKED!

Yes, I realize that if I ripped the chips off the other side of the SIMM it
would work in an A4000, but I don't have an A4000 to put it in. If someone
wants to buy and try it, they're more than welcome. In its present state, it
will only work in PCs though…

Oh, I thought you stated that you were selling them because they will not work
in an A4000.
