HP 500C Problem
9 messages in this thread
Hello all,
I am having a problem with my HP DeskJet 500C wanting to print.
Everytime I try to use Prowrite the DeskJet wants to use a color
cartridge. No matter how many times I try to feed it the black
ink it won't take it.
Also when useing the black ink cartridge the system will send to
DeskJet, the printer will bring the head to the center and then
just do nothing. Prowrite comes back with a Printer Trouble
requestor.
With DPaintIV the printer won't print at all. Really annoying.
This is a new 500C and I have tried both CBM 2.1 DOS "DeskJet"
driver as well as the 500C Driver here on CIS.
The only 2 dip switches set are 300dpi Graphics printing "Yes"
(up) and 66 Lines Per Page (Up).
Any suggestions appreciated or anyone know of a better driver for
the 500C.
Thanks 🙂
Shawn
Shawn,
Yes, I have the same problem with ProWrite. It's a real nuissance!
I haven't been able to figure out how to fix it so i use WordPerfect
or ProPage for fancy layouts. If you used the normal HP500 driver
(B&W) instead of the colour it might make a difference. The problem
seems to be that it defaults to colour and PW has no way of changing
that. When the print head goes to the centre it is waiting for you
to change the cartridge. I think I deleted PW off my HDD so I can't
test it.
I have no problems with DPIV. What driver are you using?
Andrew
Shawn,
I am presently using an HP 500C printer with both my Amiga 4000 and
Amiga 2000 without problems. I use a driver called Super_DJC2
available from Creative Focus Box 580 Chenango Bridge, NY
13745-0580. Phone (607) 648-4082. Although I have ProWrite, I do not
use it, preferring instead Final Copy II. This driver/Printer
combination works fine to produce color prints from DPaint IV and
both black-and-white and color output from Final Copy II. I also
believe I have used the HP_500C driver that comes with AmigaDOS 2.1
without problems in both DPaint IV and Final Copy II, but that was so
long ago that I may not be remembering correctly. In any case, I
find the Super DJC2 driver to produce better output on the 500C than
the Commodore driver. One final comment: make certain you have
checked the appropriate printer preferences on both the printer and
Printer graphics screens. Hope this helps.
Shawn,
How much is the Super_DHC2 driver?
Andrew
Andrew,
I purchased the Super_DJC2 driver about a year ago, and I honestly don't
remember the price. I believe it was about $60, although it could have
been somewhat less. Sorry I can't be more specific.
Tom
That gives me an idea. I think I have seen it around so I'll take a
closer look at it next time. Is it just a printer driver or is it a
print program?
Super DJC2 is just a printer driver.
Ok, thanks.
Shawn;
Try choosing "BLACK AND WHITE" in the Prefs/PrinterFXG editor Shade
gadget.

Adios Amigoids!
