is there some reason the question I asked about projecting shadows to be seen
thru a background disapearred? Was the ? worded wrong? Or was it just a stupid
question? I posted it only a few days ago. thanx

Hi Walter,
<< where's my message..>>
I found message #145140 and it's still there and there are no answers.
<< But how do I create a surface that would hold a shadow for the plane but be
transparent for the scan/background to show up through? >>
It sounds like you'd like to create a realistic shadow of the airplane on the
photographed aircraft carrier.
Will this be a still or an animation? I'm thinking that a custom alpha mask may
help you if it's a still but I've never tried to create this type of effect.

I guess I just don't know where my note is posted, thanx for responding.
If I can get a economic way of making a shadow it would be great. The mix of
real life and 3d really makes for great animations. I did a flc of a
thunderbird appearing to travel down a country road and looking like it hits
lots of bumps and kicking up a dust trail, (the valley image that comes with
3ds) you create a plane that lines up with the dirt road and just move the car
along it, adding little dips & bumps. You should try it, or maybe I should
upload that animation,it's @ home, look out for it it's pretty neat or let me
know if it isn't.
I know a alpha channel can be made with the shapes on a background but a
shadow? can I make some sort of channel with density? say make every thing
white and the oject neon and merge the resulting image with video post with
density?
You know what, I'll upload the ship scene. I'll call it varyani.zip.
See if can understand what I mean, it looks pretty realistic.
Thanx for any help
