At the bar where I work, there is an Amiga 500 that is connected to
all the tv's. I need a program that I can use to draw and display
text and graphics on the tv screens. A genlock isn't necessary for
doing just this right? I figure all I need is a graphics program and
something like AmigaVision or CanDo to display the screens that I
create. Am I missing something?
I had one of my amiga's hooked up in a bar and meade some cash with
it. I used Scala MM200 I think I paid about $349.00 for it and it
works great lost my contact at the bar and pulled the machine out but
it was fun!
Hmm a 500 I Think you'll need a RGB Encoder to make the 500's rgb
port composite video or a genlock would do. if i am not mistaken the
500's video out is B/W no? anyway Scala MM200 (MM210) is a good way
to go software wise…
I just started working there. The A500 was just sitting there doing
nothing. They ordered an A520 to hook it up to the tv's. Is that
correct? If not, what else will they need? Also, they want to spend
as little as possible on the whole setup, so I think Scala is out of
the price range. If I'm correct, the A500 still has a 1.2 rom in it.
Working with this limited bodget, I figure I'll get a 1.3 rom and
software used, and purchase a graphics program, and either CanDo or
AmigaVision.

Right; an A520 will let you do color composite output to TVs. But you'll
need some kind of signal splitter/amp if the bar doesn't already have one,
to send the signal to multiple TVs. There's a cheap version of Scala,
intended for the A500, called Scala 500 and selling for around $70.
