I've been running Windows NT for some time now. Althought It looks good, when I took my system from 32 to 20 megs of RAM I noticed a severe performance degradation. I just thought that I would add that 3DS rel 3.0 doesn't run under NT. Although I haven't put much effort into getting it to run. It seems that I get a Pharlap error.

Gary Yost posted a message some time ago that NT has a compliance problem (can you believe Microsoft would do something like that?!<g>) and therefore pharlap stuff won't run under it. I'm not sure about the details, though.

The details as I know them: Pharlap wrote a device driver that is used to run Phar Lap programs under Windoze. It is the file "pharlap.386" that you set up as a device driver in the windows .ini files. Phar Lap has not written an equivelent device driver for the NT platform. When I asked someone in their tech support about the availablitily of an NT device driver, they said it does not at this time exist, and were not sure that it ever would. -Brian

Robert, Thanks for the info. I think that 3ds3 won't run at all under NT. Its too bad. I'm running NT more and more lately and I really like it. I've got 32MB as well and I'm sure all the extra RAM NT can get helps. I appreciate your comments about going to 20MB as MS claims 12MB is fine. (Kinda like a 286 w/ 2MB is okay to run Win3.1 <g>) Mark
