Perhaps the most impressive thing about the AutoCAD Certification Exam
was the test itself. I would be very interested in purchasing or
obtaining a program that works like the ACE. This would save an
incredible amount of time for all instructors.
There were two important features of this exam that would help
instructors more efficiently evaluated their students. Having the
ability to switch back and forth from the exam to AutoCAD allows the
student to show their knowledge and skills. Instant exam results
leaves more time for the instructor to teach and lets the student
know immediately how they stand in the class.
If anyone knows of a program like this please send me the info. I am
assuming Drake doesn't sell it themselves.
A buddy and I are working on a windows based mulitple choice
exam. We have a working demo. but the exam is still being written.

Absolutly, I would definitely like to take a look at what ya'll have. As I
mentioned, this would be a great help for me and I'm sure other instructors
would be interested as well. A good open format exam program would be worth
spending some $ for. E-mail would be the best way to get it to me.

at Vanier (work). BTW when you mentionned open format exam what did you mean?

I'm half brain dead in the evenings now. "Open format exams" just
means that I can enter my own questions and answers into a generic
test. Given the correct answers, the "test program" would
automatically compute the grade.
I have a bank of standard questions and pull them out to make a new
exams each semester. It sure would be nice to have the students
answer the questions on the computer and have it calculate the
grades.

I too am interested in the work you have done on the Windows test. can you

David, John Fisher, an attendee at the PPT session at Clackamas OR in August,
demonstrated a DCL/Lisp routine he called AutoTest. Running in Acad (Win or
DOS) the test used an "info trap" that wouldn't let you begin the test unless
you filled all the fields. Your performance was constantly monitored – answers
right, questions left, time left, etc. Quiz material was created with any text
editor which the routine read and presented in a good looking dialog. Questions
were selected at random from the text file and "radio buttons" were placed by
each possible answer. The routine also mixed up the choices to prevent
cheating – every time you ran "AutoTest", the quiz was different. Terence
Shumaker and I both urged John to market this routine – it looked good! I'm
sure he would be interested in hearing from you. I have his business card at
work and can post his address here for you. I think he works at St. Paul
Technical College in Minnesota. He is on CIS, so you could probably look up

sounds great! So I'm not the only one trying to automate my grading
and evaluation of students? I'll try to send a message to John. I
sure would like to see what he has.
