David/John, I don't see the original email to this response to know what you said or asked John? However, but let me add jump in case I was the "… person from Autodesk" referred to in David's reply?! and to be sure that we have in any case answered all your questions. It was certainly NOT my intent to "pass over" or "not want to comment" on pricing issues. I thought I did address the questions put to me clearly by commenting that all actual prices are set by the dealers themselves and thus they are the best ones to ask about specific prices. Otherwise all we can quote is Suggested Retail Price, and indeed for us to do so otherwise is illegal and know as "price fixing"! The context of my remarks were further necessitated by the fact that pricing is also unique within every country (again by law) and this was an international audience that had at least five countries present that I know of. So hopefully you can see that the issue is not one of avoidance but of clarity. However, all that counts is that you are satisfied by getting all your questions answered, so if you would be so kind as to give me any of your questions that are not being answered to your satisfaction elsewhere, I will ensure that you are contacted with them. As David mentions one of the advantages of the Ed SIG of NAAUG will be to have this type of networking amongst education and Autodesk. If I presume correclty that you are located in the USA or Canada, again let me repeat that we have set up a special dealer channel exclusively for education called the Autodesk Education Representatives (AER) and this should be your best and easiest source of information relative to Autodesk pricing. Please be sure you have contacted your AER first to get this information, and then if there are larger issues or any unanswered questions please let me know and I will be only too happy to get answers for you. Thanks for taking the time to let us know your concerns. We are always available here anytime you need support or assistance. The better we know what our customers want and need, the better we can improve and meet these.
